Why Online Marketers Need A Mentor, And How You Can Find A Good One

If you are new to internet marketing, you will soon discover, if you haven’t already, that it is taking way too much time to get anything going. In this article we will explain why you need a mentor, and how to find a good one.

When you study the career paths of highly successful people, there is a common denominator that you may have missed. “What is that?”you say. My answer is EXPERIENCE.

The next obvious question is, “how did they get their experience? The answer is: Trial and error, over a period of time.

Since we are talking about internet marketing, let’s confine our discussion to that.

Since I started my internet business I have observed the career paths of most of the internet gurus. Almost to a person, they said they struggled early on.

They didn’t seem to be getting anywhere, but through trial and error, they eventually figured it all out. The length of time it took was shortened for many, because they had help from others who had gone before them. In other words, they had a MENTOR.

The majority of mentors, built their success through trial and error over time. That time frame, for many, was shortened by finding someone to guide them as a mentor.

So the answer to the question of “why do I need an internet marketing mentor” should be obvious. It will shorten your path to success and save you a lot of time and money.

How Do You Find A Good Mentor?

First you need to decide what type of internet business you want to pursue.

*Do you want to create and market your own product?

*Do you want to market real products or digital products?

*Do you want to market other people’s products as an affiliate?

*How do you want to market? PPC, SEO, EMAIL, SOCIAL MEDIA, etc?

Now if you are new to IM you may be saying to yourself: “I don’t know enough yet to answer those questions. I need someone to help me sort it all out.”

What you are looking for is a complete A to Z marketing training system. There are many systems to choose from, too many, in fact. I’m sure your email inbox is flooded with offers like mine every day.

My personal experience has been (see if this sounds familiar) when I read my email. I allow about an hour to read and reply. When I see one that sounds interesting I click on it. There is usually a video that I watch, then I read the sales letter. I don’t have time to pursue it, so I bookmark it for later action.

At the end of the week, I have maybe 5-6 systems bookmarked. When I review them, they all sound good, but I’m confused. Which should I choose?

I made a check list of things I look for in a MENTOR. Here is my check list that you may find helpful.

*Does their sales material sound believable or is it full of
hype and unbelievable claims of income? If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Do they offer a sample of their training? Some people are just better teachers than others.

*Do they offer video and PDF tutorials?

*Is the course designed to take a new beginner from zero to a successful business, and cover the detailed how-to’s as it goes?

*Does the course offer easy access and directions to the necessary vendors, such as domain names, hosts, auto-responders, software, and other necessary tools?

*Is the course reasonably priced and within one’s budget? If you’re new and on a budget, can you afford it?

Even after going through the check list, you really won’t know for sure, so you will need to pick out the one that sounds best to you and give it a try.

It’s important that you have an iron clad guarantee that allows you to easily opt out at any time, and get your money back.
