With all the talk about search engine optimization, those who are unfamiliar with the premise can only glean tidbits of information to conclude if SEO is a perfect fit for their business.

After that is all said and done, the focus should be promoting your newly created content to reach a point of citation through peer review and appear as a worthy destination (based on votes, links, exposure or citation) from other respected websites, blogger’s or authoritative sources relevant to the topic.
Topical relevance is paramount for signifying authority and it is this domain or page level authority which allows a page to become buoyant in the search results and rise to the top 10 results as a conditional response of the algorithms weighting methods that assess the on page and off page metrics.
The key to promotion is finding passionate communities or individuals who are already seeking products or services such as your own and then incorporating persuasive writing, benefit rich-content to entice them to engage your value proposition and direct them to a targeted conversion funnel (which is the desired action for that page).
Understanding that exposure is great, but ROI (return on investment) is even better, so, you may have to create multiple tiers within your campaign to embrace a holistic online marketing approach.
You may use RSS syndication, video optimization social media engagement through Facebook, Twitter, Digg and other online properties to create exposure, but ultimately you should still have a blog or specific landing pages to funnel the collective focus to critical pages that are designated for search engines and ranking for specific keywords and key phrases.
The most savvy and sound your foundation, the broader footprint you can make with your digital medium to embrace your target audience and facilitate conversion (sales, sign-ups for newsletters, lead generation, etc.).
