5 Tips On How To Get More Blog Visitors
Starting a new blog is fun and exciting. The not-so-exciting-part is waiting for visitors to show up.
Just because you have a blog, a good one even, doesn’t mean millions of people are suddenly going to kick the door down to see it. Here are five tips to help you get more blog visitors.
1. Provide Super Content.
What is the definition of “super” content? You need to blog about subjects that your target audience is “super” interested in.
Is there an easy way to find out what your target audience wants to learn about? Yep. You’ll need to do a little detective work but if you follow these four steps you’ll soon discover what it is that interests them.
- Start your sleuthing with a keyword tool (like Google Adwords Keyword Tool) to locate the topics people in your niche are looking up.
- What types of info products have your purchased or your target audience are purchasing in your niche? Once you know the answer to that question simply write blog posts on the same topics.
- Visit forums and blogs/websites related to your blog topic to see which topics are creating the most views, discussion and buzz.
- This last one is almost too easy but it’s overlooked by a majority of bloggers, survey your readers by asking them what they are interested in.
Update Your Blog Regularly.
I’ve made this mistake, you probably have too, you fire up a blog with a pile of posts and then get distracted with life. Visitors notice the age of your posts. If they see three months worth of cobwebs covering your site they’ll look for fresher pickings.
Great blogging is all about great commitment. Post articles to your blog at least once a week, twice is better. I realize that posting two articles per week is a stretch for some people but at least chug along at a one-article-per-week clip.
If you honestly need a break from blog posting write three or four articles in advance and drip feed them with your automatic posting function. (Most blogging software has an automatic posting function.) Four pre-written articles drip-fed over a four week period allows you to take a four week vacation!
Here’s the point, post frequently, post consistently so that your blog is alive and worth the visitors time.
Get More Blog Visitors By Creating Regular Features.
You don’t just want new visitors, as great as they are, you want repeat visitors. Here are two ways you can produce repeat visitors to your blog.
Example 1: Create a multi-part article-set about a hot topic, how to make money from home using your computer would work. Space out the posting of your articles to one or two per week and you can rest assured your readers will show up like clockwork, week after week, until the last article is posted.
NOTE: Make sure you reveal when the next article will be posted so that your visitor knows exactly when to come back.
Example 2: Another regular feature that works quite well is the “Hot Tip of the Week” or the “FAQs From Readers”.
Write About Controversial Topics
If you want to jumpstart your blog’s traffic just write about hot topics or controversial topics. Okay, you can also write about hot topics in a controversial way. Just make sure your article is SEO’d with keywords and “ping” blog directories so that people searching for your topic can find your post.
Another way to enjoy the benefits of traffic surrounding a hot topic is to join in on a discussion on another blog or forum. Simply use a trackback to add in your two cents worth.
Get Others To Place Their Stamp Of Approval On Your Blog
Preferably this stamp of approval will come from an influential member of your niche’s community. The easiest way to do this is by writing an exclusive post for Mr. or Ms. Big’s blog. If they post your article with a backlink to your site you have their approval, albeit indirectly.
Option two is to trade favors with joint venture partners for their direct endorsement. You will of course return the favor.
Conclusion
I’ve just shared five proven ways to bring new and repeat visitors to your blog. All you need to do is take some action.
Right now, apply all of the tips to your blog consistently and count how many more blog visitors you get over the next few months.
