5 Deadly Mistakes To Avoid When Using Follow Up Marketing

Follow up marketing is one of the most profitable ways to make money online.

Unfortunately most of us do not understand how to harness its power when starting out. This causes us to make deadly mistakes that eventually slow down our online progress severely.

When I was starting out online, I wish I had someone to guide me and show me what not to do when using follow up marketing.

It could have saved me a lot of time and money because my path to success would have been that much shorter.

The good news for you is that you do not have to go through the same business wrecking pitfalls I went through.

In this article you will discover 5 deadly mistakes you must avoid if you want to make money with follow up marketing.

Here they are.

1. The first mistake that most newbies make when using follow up marketing is to focus on selling features instead of benefits.

This is a grave mistake because people are not really interested in the features of a product. All they want to find out is how a product can be of benefit to them.

So what is the difference between a feature and a benefit? Well, let us start with what a feature is. A feature is something that a product does.

For example if you buy a car and it has an air conditioner that even cools the seats, that is a feature. It is what the car does.

A benefit on the other hand is what a product does for the customer. Perhaps they sound the same to you so let me give you an example. Let us use the car example again.

The benefit of the air conditioner that cools the seats is that you will feel very comfortable when driving your car on a very hot day.

Can you see how the benefit can persuade you to buy the car more than the feature? So focus on selling benefits in your follow up emails.

2. The second mistake that most people make when using follow up marketing is to make their email marketing messages too long.

This is an understandable mistake because it takes a lot of words to make your point and persuade another person to take the action you desire.

However, when doing email marketing, the famous saying that clutter is the enemy of the entrepreneur, is absolutely correct.

As you probably know, when people read emails online, they are usually, if not always, in a hurry. This is more so the case if the email they receive is from a complete stranger who is trying to sell them something.

So if you want to make money online using follow up marketing, it is critical that you make your email messages short and punchy in order to make your point quickly.

It takes a bit of practice to do this but as with most things in life, it is a learnable skill.

3.The third deadly follow up marketing mistake to avoid is not communicating often enough with your prospects.

Lets face it, we would like to think that people remember us and our eloquent marketing emails but that is not the reality.

The truth is that it is a busy fast paced world out there and people have 100s of things to do. So if you do not communicate with your prospects often enough they WILL forget you.

Now of course this does not mean that you should send 5 emails everyday just to make sure you remain at the top of your prospects minds.

That would be spamming and it could ruin your business.

Personally, this is how I do it. When people join my newsletter, I like to send them 1 email every day for 5 days. After that, I send them no more than 2 emails per week.

This keeps my online business and the benefits it can provide fresh in the minds of my prospects. If you do the same you will be pleasantly surprised at the results.

4. The fourth deadly mistake that causes people to fail miserably at follow up marketing is to use raw affiliate links in their email messages.

Few things will put off your email list more than this and there are many reasons for that. Here are 2 important ones.

Firstly, a raw affiliate link looks terribly ugly and long. It is unpleasant on the eye and will put off some of your prospects.

Secondly, your prospects do not like being sold to and a raw affiliate link comes across as salesy.

So what is the solution? Here is my approach. I use an ad tracker instead. It is friendlier on the eyes and people feel more comfortable clicking it.

It also makes it impossible or at least very difficult, for people to steal your affiliate commissions by replacing your affiliate link with theirs.

A good ad tracker to use is hyper tracker. Of course there are many others but this is the one I personally like and use.

5. Lastly, the fifth deadly mistake most people make when using follow up marketing is to not track the performance of their messages.

I cannot stress enough that if you want to make money online, the name of the game is tracking and measuring your results in order to know what is working and what is not.

Makes sense right?

So if you want to make the most out of your follow up marketing efforts, start using an ad tracker in all your emails. As I said earlier, hyper tracker is a good ad tracker.

It is a good tracker because you can use it in place of your affiliate links and track how many clicks and sells you make.

If you track your messages you will be able to know which ones are making you the most money and to put those messages earlier in your follow up selling systems.

For example if you find out that email 10 is making the most sales and that many people are leaving your list after email 6, you could put email 10 before email 6. This could significantly your sales.

See the sense in that?

So those are the 5 deadly mistakes of follow up marketing.
If you make sure you avoid these mistakes, your follow up marketing will become much more effective.

And the natural result of not falling into these hidden pit falls is that you will significantly speed up your online success.

And THAT, is a marvelous thing indeed!
